2013  WINSTON  APPLE  OPEN

The 4th annual Winston Apple Open was held on September 7, 2013 at the Winchester Golf Course in Winchester, Indiana. The weather was perfect with temperatures in the low 80's and a steady light breeze. The golf course was in good shape and was receptive to some fine golf.

A blind draw was made after everyone had posted their scores to determine four teams of 4 players each. The winning team had a total score of 368 and consisted of Ken Miller, Joe Smith, Jerry Toney, and Bob Snively.

The winning team, in keeping with tradition, bought a round of drinks for all the participants. There was lots of talk about the day's event among the players and how many arrived at their scores.  It was a successful event and everyone had fun with Winston once again.

This year's event also included an optional donation from the participants for the Special Olympics in Jim Miller's memory. Jim had been present for the previous Winston Apple Open events and was an avid golfer. We lost Jim earlier this year and he will always be remembered for his competitive spirit plus his deep respect for the game of golf. Donations totaled just over $100.00 for his favorite charity and was appreciated.
